New Words Coined by Gurudev Ranade
‘Spiriton’
Whenever the current word did not suit his purpose Gurudev Ranade used to coin new words. Thus for the particle of divine light or Bindu. The word 'Spiriton' was coined. (It is called Bindu or Bindule. 'Spiriton' was coined at his presidential address at the Philosophical Congress at Nagpur in 1937)
‘Theonem’
'Theonem' word was coined by him on the analogy of hominem, populen and verecundium. It is an appeal to the power and actions of God Himself.
‘Beatificism’
'Beatificism' word was coined by Gurudev Ranade. 'Beatificism' is identification of bliss with ultimate reality. In explaining the ethical doctrine of the Bhagvad-Gita, he has discussed three theories: a general theory of moralism, theory of supermoralism and the theory of beatificism as a reconciliation of the first two. Prof. E. A. Wodehouse was greatly pleased with his coining the word 'beatificism'.
‘Sonnanism’
His explanation of the word 'Sonnanism' is – 'Sphotism would be a good word; but one might say Sonnanism would be even better to signify the idea conveyed by Kabir in his philosophy of the Spiritual Sound.' So the word 'Sonnanism' was coined.
‘Theopolity’
He uses the word 'Theopolity' to mean a kingdom where God is the ruler. This was a very favourite idea with Gurudev Ranade.
‘Theotropism’
He coined the word 'Theotropism' during at the time of meditation. Mere tropism might be psychological, mental or imaginary. But 'theotropism' must be a mystical experience.
‘Spiritual Agniology’
'Spiritual Agniology' – A science of agnosticism is 'Spiritual Agniology.'
